The East region has the highest concentration of concrete roads on our road network, including the A12, A14, A120 and M11.

Around half of the old-style concrete roads will either have repairs or will be replaced during the next five years.

National Highways will use new methods and new technology to provide a modern road that will last for decades to come. This will also make it easier and quicker for future repairs to be undertaken.

A12 Margaretting Bypass reconstruction scheme
Essex Chambers of Commerce are pleased to be supporting National Highways, on their works to reconstruct the A12 Margaretting Bypass scheme. 

As part of this work the A12 Margaretting Bypass (between junctions 13 and 15) is being rebuilt. This will provide a smoother surface, improve safety and provide a quieter and better journey for road users. 

During the works, the carriageway will be reduced to two lanes in both directions and the speed limit will be reduced to 40mph. A number of slip roads will need to be closed so the work can be completed safely and efficiently.

Further work on the A12 includes work from junction 25 Marks Tey to junction 26 Stanway reconstruction scheme
As part of this work the road between A12 Junction 25 Marks Tey to junction 26 Stanway is being rebuilt. This will provide a smoother surface, improve safety and provide a quieter and better journey for road users. 

During the work, the road will be reduced to two lanes in both directions and the speed limit will be reduced to 50mph. Some roads will need to be closed so the work can be completed safely and efficiently.
