Essex Chambers of Commerce is delighted to have been chosen by the Department for Education as lead for the Essex Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP). These plans are being rolled out across England to provide an employer voice and perspective of skills needs locally. We will be working with local employers and partners over the coming weeks and months to develop a plan capturing skills needs and identifying action based solutions required to enable local colleges and skills providers to effectively meet that need.
To develop a clear picture, we will hold engagement sessions which will include one-to-one meetings with the Chambers Employer Engagement team and Business Engagement Events. We will also undertake research drawing on a wide range of data sets and utilise existing reports and information. We will also work closely with the South East Local Enterprise Partnership (SELEP), other Chambers & Employer Representative Bodies (ERBs) and local authorities to use the wealth of existing evidence available. Together, we are looking forward to developing a plan which makes a difference and we hope you will want to get involved.
As an example of what is already being achieved, work is aligning and underway with a college led £2.8 million ‘Strategic Development Fund’, ensuring capital investments are aligned to industry need in areas such as digital, engineering, advanced manufacturing, green construction, green energy and life sciences. The Essex LSIP will enable further alignment and investments.
We will be adding further information here to keep you updated on the Essex LSIP and how you can get involved, so watch this space!
